Hi! My name is Talitha Issavi and I am the Chapter President of Alpha Phi at UC Davis. Coming into UC Davis from a small high school, I dove head first into a completely new environment. I knew I wanted two things: a small community within a big school to call home and a community that celebrates the individuality of its members. The immediate feeling of acceptance never wore off as the novelty of being a freshman did. Here, I was encouraged by my sisters to step out of my comfort zone and apply as the first ever VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and now President, which has been my favorite experience with Alpha Phi. This position has taught me so many invaluable lessons and I continue to learn from this chapter every day! Taking on the responsibility of being the voice of this chapter is something that intimidated me at first - just like going through recruitment did when I was a freshman. Now, I can confidently say that both experiences have really pushed me to grow and get to know myself better...as well as all of the strong and empowering women in the international community of Alpha Phi.
